Scrap my car
in Wakefield
Wakefield and the Five Towns are the busiest part of West Yorkshire in our records, and the WF postcodes are quoted by yards from both sides of the M1: West Yorkshire collectors and the South Yorkshire ones that run north every day. Castleford, Pontefract and Hemsworth are among the single most-collected districts we have.

Wakefield, the Five Towns and the south of the district
The city — the centre, Eastmoor and Belle Vue in WF1, Lupset, Sandal, Agbrigg and Kettlethorpe in WF2, Outwood and Stanley in WF3 — is one half of it. The other is the Five Towns: Castleford in WF10, Pontefract in WF8, Knottingley in WF11, Featherstone in WF7 and Normanton in WF6, with Hemsworth and South Elmsall in WF9 and Ossett and Horbury in WF4 and WF5. Each district is priced on its own, and each of the towns has its own page with the numbers for that town.
Why the prices hold up here
The M1 and the A1 both run through the district, which means yards from Leeds, from the Heavy Woollen towns and from South Yorkshire can all reach a Wakefield car cheaply. More collectors able to quote means a better best price for you. The network shows you the top figure and the yard that offered it collects.
Estates, terraces and trading estates
Lupset, Eastmoor, Kettlethorpe and Airedale are estates with drives and hardstandings; the older streets around the centre, Agbrigg and the Five Towns are terraces with kerbside parking. Both are routine for the collectors. Calder Park, Thornes and the Junction 32 side send vans as well as cars — priced by registration, collected free, invoiced if you want.
Everything the law expects
The registered keeper is paid by bank transfer within 24 hours of collection; every collector is an Authorised Treatment Facility, so the Certificate of Destruction is issued and the DVLA is told you are no longer the keeper. Failed MOT, non-runner, write-off, lost V5C — all handled, none of them stops the collection.

What people say afterwards
So very easy , a few clicks , a phone call and all was taken care of. I treated my self with a take away the same night. Also best price I found and I compared 😂
Fantastic experience from enquiry through to collection. Payment made promptly and the communication was excellent. Highly recommended.
Highly professional and recommendable from start to finish. Collected my vehicle and paid within a few hours, and the collection driver was absolutely brilliant. Can’t recommend them enough and if I ever have to scrap a car again won’t hesitate to use them. Paid the best price too!
Questions
What people in Wakefield ask
Which of the Five Towns do you collect from?
All of them — Castleford, Pontefract, Knottingley, Featherstone and Normanton — plus Hemsworth, South Elmsall, Ossett and Horbury. Castleford and Pontefract are among the districts we have collected from most.
Will the collector be a Wakefield yard or come from further away?
Whichever approved yard pays the most for your car that day. For Wakefield that can be a West Yorkshire yard or a South Yorkshire one that runs up the M1; either way the truck is included and the collector rings you to arrange the day.
How long does it take to be paid?
You are paid by bank transfer to the registered keeper within 24 hours of collection. Cash has been illegal for scrap since 2013.
How soon can you get to Wakefield?
Most Wakefield collections happen within a day or two of booking. The yard that collects is local, rings you to fix the day, and confirms the morning or afternoon before the driver leaves.
Do you charge for collection in Wakefield?
No. Collection is free — the lorry, the driver and the fuel are the collector's cost anywhere in WF1, WF2, WF3, WF4, WF5, WF6, WF7, WF8, WF9, WF10, WF11, and nothing comes off the price on the day unless the car is not as you described it.
What if I have lost the V5C?
You can still scrap the car. The law asks the yard to check who you are, not to see the logbook, so photo ID and proof of address are what matter. The Authorised Treatment Facility that takes the car issues the Certificate of Destruction and updates the DVLA record.
Do you pay cash?
No, and no licensed yard legally can: the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash for scrap vehicles. The collector pays by bank transfer to the registered keeper within 24 hours of collection.
