A new town of drives and roundabouts

East Kilbride is easy for a lorry: wide roads, estates of semis and drives, and the Kelvin and Nerston industrial estates for the vans. Kerbside collection is rarer here than in Glasgow, but a car left in a lock-up or a garage court needs mentioning when you book so the driver brings the kit to pull it out.

Two sets of collectors

G74 and G75 sit between the Glasgow yards and the Lanarkshire ones at Hamilton and Motherwell, and both quote for East Kilbride cars. The site shows the highest figure any approved collector offers and that yard collects, usually within one to three days. More quotes, better price.

What comes through

Family cars and school-run 4x4s at the end of the MOT from the estates, and vans from Kelvin, Nerston and College Milton. Vans up to 3.5 tonnes are priced from the registration and can be invoiced; MOT failures, non-runners and write-offs are priced the same way.

Paid and closed off

The registered keeper is paid by bank transfer within 24 hours of collection — cash has been banned for scrap in Scotland since 2016. The yard, being an Authorised Treatment Facility, sends the Certificate of Destruction and tells the DVLA the car has gone, which ends your liability for tax and insurance. Missing V5C? Not a problem. The yard asks for photo ID and proof of address, nothing more.

How it works

From registration to paid, in four steps

  1. 01

    Get your price

Registration and postcode. The car is looked up on the DVLA record and priced against what the licensed yards covering your district pay today.

  2. 02

    Book it

Tell us where the car is and what suits you. It takes under a minute, with no account and no haggling.

  3. 03

    A local yard rings you

The licensed collector behind your price calls within two hours in the working day to fix the day, then collects for free.

  4. 04

    Paid within 24 hours

Bank transfer to the registered keeper within 24 hours of collection. The DVLA is told and the Certificate of Destruction is emailed to you.

Highly professional and recommendable from start to finish. Collected my vehicle and paid within a few hours, and the collection driver was absolutely brilliant. Can’t recommend them enough and if I ever have to scrap a car again won’t hesitate to use them. Paid the best price too!

Questions

What people in East Kilbride ask

Is East Kilbride priced with Glasgow or with Lanarkshire?

Both — collectors from either side quote for G74 and G75, and the site shows you the best of them.

Can a van from the Kelvin estate be scrapped through you?

Yes. Vans up to 3.5 tonnes are priced from the registration like cars, collected free, and the yard can invoice the business.

How is the day arranged?

The collector rings within a couple of hours of you accepting the price, agrees a day with you, and the driver confirms before setting off.

How soon can you get to East Kilbride?

Most East Kilbride collections happen within a day or two of booking. The yard that collects is local, rings you to fix the day, and confirms the morning or afternoon before the driver leaves.

Do you charge for collection in East Kilbride?

No. Collection is free — the lorry, the driver and the fuel are the collector's cost anywhere in G74, G75, and nothing comes off the price on the day unless the car is not as you described it.

What if I have lost the V5C?

You can still scrap the car. The law asks the yard to check who you are, not to see the logbook, so photo ID and proof of address are what matter. The Authorised Treatment Facility that takes the car issues the Certificate of Destruction and updates the DVLA record.

Do you pay cash?

No, and no licensed yard legally can: the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash for scrap vehicles. The collector pays by bank transfer to the registered keeper within 24 hours of collection.
