Scrap my car
in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is the east end of our Scottish coverage: the city postcodes from Leith and Granton round to Portobello, Craigmillar and Gilmerton, and out west through Gorgie, Sighthill and Wester Hailes to Corstorphine. Yards from West Lothian and Fife quote for it as well as the city's own, and the price already includes the drive.

The city by district
Leith and Granton in EH5 and EH6, Muirhouse and Pilton in EH4, Gorgie and Dalry in EH11, Sighthill and Wester Hailes in EH14, Corstorphine in EH12, Portobello in EH15, Craigmillar and Niddrie in EH16, Gilmerton in EH17 and the centre in EH1 to EH3 and EH8. In our records EH11 and EH14 in the west and EH4 in the north send the most. Each district is priced separately against every approved collector covering it, and the site shows the best figure.
Tenements and permit streets
Edinburgh's tenement streets, controlled parking zones and tight lanes are what the collectors expect. What they need from you is where the car is — on the street, in a residents' bay, in a lock-up — and whether it rolls, so the right lorry comes at a sensible time. A car that has sat through two winters on a Leith side street is a routine job when the driver knows.
Who collects
Licensed Scottish yards — metal dealers with a council licence and Authorised Treatment Facilities — from the Edinburgh area, West Lothian and across the bridge. Whichever pays the most for your car that day gets the job, rings you to agree a day, checks the registered keeper's ID, and pays by bank transfer within 24 hours of collection. Cash has been illegal for scrap in Scotland since 2016.
Paperwork and the rest
The Certificate of Destruction is issued by the yard and the DVLA is told you are no longer the keeper. MOT failures, non-runners, write-offs and vans are priced like any other vehicle; a missing V5C is not a problem.

What people say afterwards
Highly professional and recommendable from start to finish. Collected my vehicle and paid within a few hours, and the collection driver was absolutely brilliant. Can’t recommend them enough and if I ever have to scrap a car again won’t hesitate to use them. Paid the best price too!
Great customer service and very professional. They made the whole experience easy as I had never done anything like this before and contacted me promptly to arrange collection. I received a great price for the car too. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely hassle free just as advertised. Quick service, fast pay. Peace of mind.
Questions
What people in Edinburgh ask
Do you cover all of Edinburgh?
The EH1 to EH17 city postcodes are all priced, with Livingston and West Lothian on their own page. Coverage depends on which Scottish yards are on the network at the time, so enter your postcode for the current answer.
The car is in a residents' parking bay — is that a problem?
No. Collectors work Edinburgh's controlled zones every day; tell us the street and the driver comes at a quiet time and does not need a permit to load.
How quickly can an Edinburgh car be collected?
Usually within one to three days of accepting the price. The collector rings to agree a day and confirms before setting off.
How soon can you get to Edinburgh?
Most Edinburgh collections happen within a day or two of booking. The yard that collects is local, rings you to fix the day, and confirms the morning or afternoon before the driver leaves.
Do you charge for collection in Edinburgh?
No. Collection is free — the lorry, the driver and the fuel are the collector's cost anywhere in EH1, EH2, EH3, EH4, EH5, EH6, EH7, EH8, EH9, EH10, EH11, EH12, EH13, EH14, EH15, EH16, EH17, and nothing comes off the price on the day unless the car is not as you described it.
What if I have lost the V5C?
You can still scrap the car. The law asks the yard to check who you are, not to see the logbook, so photo ID and proof of address are what matter. The Authorised Treatment Facility that takes the car issues the Certificate of Destruction and updates the DVLA record.
Do you pay cash?
No, and no licensed yard legally can: the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash for scrap vehicles. The collector pays by bank transfer to the registered keeper within 24 hours of collection.
